Meeting Minutes

Michael Zepeda called the meeting to order at 1:00pm.
Tasha Morris certified that a quorum was present.
Michael Zepeda offered opening words, and the chalice was lit.
Michael Zepeda reviewed the congregation's relational covenant.
Tina Harmuth presented a review of the visioning process.
Connie Nolen moved to adopt the vision statement as presented in the packet. Seconded. Discussion.

Note: The vision statement as presented in the packet is:
At First Jefferson Unitarian Universalist Church, we offer hope through service and the
connection we share, embrace the transforming power of awe, and seek joy by living our
values.
Lorraine Levine moved to amend the vision statement as proposed by David Binde during the discussion.
Seconded. Discussion. Judy Gutierrez called the question. Motion passed by a show of hands, with no
nays or abstentions noted.
Note: The changes David Binde proposed during discussion were that the word "we" be inserted
before "embrace" and "seek".
Judy Gutierrez moved to accept the amended statement. Seconded. Discussion.
Laurie Mikitka moved to amend the statement to remove "At First Jefferson Unitarian Universalist
Church," and begin the statement at "We offer". Seconded. Discussion. Lorraine Levine called the
question on the amended motion. Seconded. David Binde offered a point of order, and the calling of
the question was rescinded. Tina Harmuth called for a vote. The motion did not pass.
Roslyn Hunter made a motion to allow use of the statement with "At First Jefferson..." and not with it.
Seconded. Discussion. The motion did not pass.
Tina Harmuth called for a vote on the amended statement as moved by Judy Gutierrez. Motion passed
unanimously, with no nays or abstentions noted.
Note: The final version of the vision statement, approved by the congregation is as follows:
At First Jefferson Unitarian Universalist Church, we offer hope through service and the
connections we share, we embrace the transforming power of awe, and we seek joy by
living our values.
Michael Zepeda moved to adjourn the meeting and offered closing words. The chalice was
extinguished.
