December 1
“If You Have No Law, You Can’t Break It”
The Reverend Annie Foerster
Laws are created and agreed upon so that everyone in a society has the same rules to follow. When kept, they are a sign of civilization. They only chafe when you get caught breaking them. Sins are much the same in religious cultures except they are handed down from ‘on high’—God or The Church—and you don’t get to disagree. They chafe right from the beginning for some. But I argue that they have their place in history and its a shame if we don’t consider their value in the scheme of things.

December 8
“Twinkly Lights”
Turner Bridgforth
Darkness feels so abundant in the winter time, and it has since the beginning of civilization on the northern hemisphere. In response to the darkness, no matter how small and twinkling it is, we often do our best to create light.
