“False Fronts and Disguises”
The Reverend Annie Foerster
What does it mean to take someone at face value?
Is the face we present to the world our true face or
are we all mask-makers of the first degree? What’s
behind your false front?

October 8
“Blessing of the Animals”
The Reverend Annie Foerster
What is behind our human desire to have nonhuman
companions? Do we really choose pets that
reflect our own personalities? As we explore these
questions, bring your pets with you to church to
take part in a blessing. See page 2 for the rules of
conduct at an animal blessing.

October 15
“Up With Optimism!”
The Reverend Marjorie Montgomery
In these difficult days, when life is too full of
problems, Rev. Marjorie Montgomery, who served
First Jefferson 1980 to 1990, will bring us wisdom
from a Chinese farmer, a secretary who faced
a gunman in her elementary school offi ce, a
Unitarian Harvard Professor, and a Unitarian Saint
she was lucky enough to meet.
Our guest minister today is the Rev. Marjorie
Montgomery. She graduated from Wellesley College,
Union Theological Seminary NYC and Perkins School of
Theology, SMU. She has served UU churches in Belmont
MA, Denton, Fort Worth (1980 to 1990) and Waco TX,
Los Cruces NM, Tucson AZ and Nashville TN. She was
RE Consultant for the Southwest UUA District for five
years and retired in 2001. The League of Women Voters
is her current volunteer interest. She and husband
Duane have lived in Fort Worth TX. for 38 years. Their
five children and 2 grandkids live nearby.

October 22
“Revisioning I: The Sleeping Beauty Expose”
The Reverend Annie Foerster
I’m a firm believer that our childhood stories tell
us a lot more about life than we have realized.
Buried in our fairy-tale memories are the answers
we seek for life’s difficult questions. I’ve always
thought something was left out of the Sleeping
Beauty story. Let’s explore it together as we
look ahead to life at First Jefferson Unitarian
Universalist Church.
